Business Electricity Rates | Ercot 4CP Update

For all business electricity consumers in Texas that have IDR meters, please read the following as it may have an impact on your electricity costs. Ercot has entered the first month of 4CP with above normal temperatures expected today. Today looks like it may be the hottest day of the month with load expected above 59,000 MW. Load is expected to peak between Hour Ending 16 and Hour Ending 18. This has the potential to set the peak for the month of June. Clearly many days of June are remaining, but last year’s peak in June was 60,789 MW and set early in the month.

For a review on 4CP impact to the TDSP charges to customers with IDR meters, please see applicable TDSP tariff docs: https://www.puc.state.tx.us/electric/rates/TDR.cfm. The quick math is that it generally yields savings of $17,000 per year in Centerpoint and $23,000 per year in Oncor for every MW a customer can lower their 4CP value.
