Analysts expected a net injection of approximately 80 BCF to be reported today by the Energy Information Agency. Instead, the report showed a 95 BCF build.

The EIA summarized… “Working gas in storage was 2,527 Bcf as of Friday, July 1, 2011, according to EIA estimates. This represents a net increase of 95 Bcf from the previous week. Stocks were 224 Bcf less than last year at this time and 48 Bcf below the 5-year average of 2,575 Bcf. In the East Region, stocks were 117 Bcf below the 5-year average following net injections of 62 Bcf. Stocks in the Producing Region were 107 Bcf above the 5-year average of 880 Bcf after a net injection of 17 Bcf. Stocks in the West Region were 37 Bcf below the 5-year average after a net addition of 16 Bcf. At 2,527 Bcf, total working gas is within the 5-year historical range.”
